About the Role

Lead the development of React Native applications and SDKs, architect reusable components, optimize performance, and contribute to technical strategy while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities

Partner with product and design teams to create innovative user experiences for cardholders across web and mobile.
Take ownership of developing React Native-based SDKs and apps, ensuring strong performance and cross-platform compatibility.
Design and build reusable React Native components that follow modern architectural patterns and development standards.
Improve mobile app performance using strategies like lazy loading, code splitting, and efficient rendering methods.
Develop and maintain scalable frontend solutions using React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Contribute to technical planning, system architecture, and design documentation to support high-quality UI delivery.
Engage in design conversations, guide stakeholders, and define best practices for mobile and web development.
Promote and apply modern engineering standards such as automated testing, CI/CD, and performance monitoring.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in web and mobile development with a focus on React Native.
Advanced skills in React Native, including React Navigation, Expo, and native module integration using Swift, Kotlin, Objective-C, or Java.
Proven experience connecting React Native apps with native iOS and Android components when needed.
Strong grasp of React.js and state management tools like Redux or Context API.
Experience using design systems and component-based architectures to maintain consistent, scalable UIs.
In-depth knowledge of mobile performance optimization, including memory management, profiling, and rendering efficiency.
Hands-on experience integrating RESTful APIs and GraphQL into mobile and web applications.
Familiarity with mobile authentication methods such as OAuth, biometrics, and secure session handling.
Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps using tools like Fastlane, Bitrise, or App Center.
Proficient with Git and modern development workflows including branching and pull request reviews.
Track record mentoring junior developers and leading mobile development efforts.
Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities, especially for cross-platform issues.
Excellent communication skills and experience working with designers, product managers, and backend engineers.

Nice to Have

Experience with Swift or Kotlin for advanced native integrations in React Native applications.
Background in payments or fintech industries.
Knowledge of App Store and Google Play Store deployment, including code signing, release management, and A/B testing.
Experience using TypeScript to improve code quality and scalability in React Native projects.
Understanding of WebAssembly, PWAs, or other cross-platform development approaches.
Passion for creating high-quality, user-centered experiences with a focus on customer needs.

Compensation

Base salary range: $116,000 – $145,000 CAD. Includes annual bonuses, health insurance, flexible time off, retirement plan with company match, equity in a publicly traded company, remote work stipend, annual development funds, and family-forming benefits including up to 20 weeks of parental leave.

Who You Are

5+ years of experience in web and mobile application development with a focus on React Native.
Strong proficiency in React Native for building mobile applications, including experience with React Navigation, Expo, and native module development (Swift/Kotlin/Objective-C/Java).
Experience integrating React Native applications with native iOS and Android components, bridging gaps where necessary.
Deep understanding of React.js, Redux, Context API, or similar state management frameworks.
Experience working with design systems and component-based architecture to ensure UI consistency and scalability.
Strong knowledge of mobile performance optimization techniques, including profiling, memory management, and UI rendering optimizations.
Experience integrating RESTful APIs and GraphQL into mobile and web applications.
Familiarity with mobile authentication techniques, including OAuth, biometric authentication, and secure session management.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile development, such as Fastlane, Bitrise, or App Center.
Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows, including feature branching and pull request reviews.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading mobile development initiatives.
Solid problem-solving skills, debugging expertise, and the ability to troubleshoot cross-platform performance issues.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and backend engineers.
