Join a team dedicated to making Mozilla’s products accessible worldwide by designing and refining the infrastructure behind localization. You'll play a key role in evolving tools like Pontoon and moz-l10n, ensuring they meet the needs of both developers and a diverse community of volunteer translators.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain core libraries in Python and JavaScript that power localization workflows across Mozilla projects.
- Enhance internationalization support in Firefox, enabling better adaptation to different languages, scripts, and regional conventions.
- Design and implement new features for Pontoon, our localization platform, in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Work closely with a global network of contributors, offering technical guidance and improving contributor experiences.
- Coordinate with distributed teams across time zones, ensuring alignment on technical direction and project execution.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience building and supporting developer tools and libraries using Python and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with web standards, APIs, and modern software development practices.
- Active participation in open-source projects or community-driven development environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical perspectives.
- Comfort working in a decentralized, asynchronous environment with colleagues around the world.
- Professional fluency in English is required.
Nice to Have
- Background in internationalization (i18n) or localization (l10n), including familiarity with Unicode, message formatting, or text direction handling.
- Programming experience in Rust or C++.
- Knowledge of non-English languages and linguistic structures such as plural rules, gendered nouns, or writing systems.
Technology Environment
You'll work primarily with Python, JavaScript, Django, and moz-l10n, while also engaging with Rust and C++ components. The stack includes DOM Localization, Unicode MessageFormat, and the open-source Pontoon platform.

Compensation
Salary range: €55,000 – €74,300 EUR (Remote, Belgium). Performance-based bonus available. No equity component.
