Shape the future of secure SaaS development by designing and implementing critical security capabilities within a distributed, cloud-native environment. In this remote role based in Bulgaria, you'll work at the intersection of security and engineering to harden a scalable platform used by organizations worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and deploy security-first services and APIs using Java, Kotlin, Go, TypeScript, or Python, ensuring they meet performance, availability, and compliance standards in AWS environments.
- Integrate security controls directly into the application layer, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure data handling across distributed systems.
- Lead efforts to automate threat detection, vulnerability response, and secure deployment pipelines using modern tooling such as SAST, DAST, and SCA.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to influence secure design decisions from concept through release.
- Design and maintain RESTful API integrations between internal platforms and third-party systems, with a focus on reliability and security.
- Drive adoption of AI-powered development tools to improve code quality, debugging efficiency, and system design outcomes.
- Support incident response during business hours as part of a global security operations framework.
- Mentor peers and junior engineers in secure coding practices and promote a culture of shared security responsibility.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years of software development experience, with 3 years focused on security engineering or secure application design.
- Proven expertise in one or more of: Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or TypeScript, with a track record of building secure, scalable back-end systems.
- Hands-on experience securing cloud-native applications on AWS or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and container security in development workflows.
- Strong grasp of OWASP Top 10 risks and mitigation strategies across web and API surfaces.
- Experience using static and dynamic analysis tools to identify and resolve security flaws early in development.
- One year of professional experience applying AI-based tools to write, review, deploy, or maintain production code.
- One year building AI-powered features—such as generative workflows or autonomous agents—that delivered measurable business value.
- Fluency in English and legal authorization to work in Bulgaria indefinitely.
