As a Senior Software Test Engineer and Team Lead, you will drive the quality strategy for a suite of interconnected products, including cloud services, third-party integrations, and customer-facing applications. You'll design and implement end-to-end testing practices that align with rapid release cycles, ensuring reliability across distributed, event-driven systems deployed on Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a comprehensive testing approach covering API, integration, system, and UI layers, synchronized with a two-week sprint model.
- Lead by example—develop and maintain automated test suites using Cypress for frontend and API-level validation for backend services.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with defined quality gates at pull request and merge stages, enabling fast feedback and stable deployments.
- Establish clear release criteria and "Definition of Done" standards that embed test coverage, regression checks, and contract validation.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to support reliable test execution in Azure environments provisioned via Terraform, including lifecycle management of ephemeral test instances.
- Ensure secure handling of test data, secrets, and credentials across environments using tools like Azure Key Vault.
- Mentor engineers in writing testable code, lead post-incident reviews to reduce regressions, and help scale the testing function through coaching and hiring.
- Standardize test patterns, manage flaky test detection, and publish clear, actionable test results to development teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years in software testing or quality engineering, with proven experience modernizing test processes in large-scale systems.
- Strong technical proficiency in Cypress and API testing frameworks, with hands-on experience integrating tests into CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, asynchronous messaging (e.g., Azure Event Grid, Kafka), and distributed system challenges.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and influence engineering teams toward quality-first practices.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship is required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Terraform for test environment provisioning and teardown.
- Background testing event-driven or real-time systems, including WebRTC or video pipelines.
- Working knowledge of Azure services such as AKS, Functions, App Services, and monitoring tools like Application Insights, Prometheus, or Grafana.
