Role Overview
Join a mission-focused team as a Senior System Administrator, responsible for maintaining and optimizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers within a web-based environment. This remote position ensures systems remain secure, resilient, and performant through proactive administration, automation, and robust infrastructure practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete lifecycle of RHEL servers, from deployment and configuration to ongoing maintenance and decommissioning.
- Provision and manage physical and virtual servers across cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure.
- Create and maintain automation scripts using Bash or Python, and implement Ansible playbooks to streamline system operations.
- Enforce security standards through SELinux policies, firewall rules, access control lists, and proper user and group permissions.
- Monitor system health, resource usage, and log data to maintain high availability and resolve performance issues.
- Utilize Red Hat Satellite for centralized management of software repositories, content views, and patch compliance.
- Configure and maintain logical volume management, file systems, and backup procedures to safeguard critical data.
- Diagnose and resolve complex system-level problems, conduct root cause analysis, and support technical teams as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with RHEL versions 7, 8, and 9 in enterprise settings.
- Experience supporting Apache web servers and Drupal-based applications.
- Strong command-line proficiency and experience with shell scripting in Bash.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and firewall configurations.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks such as Ansible and containerization tools like Podman or Docker.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or a related technical field, plus at least five years of relevant experience. Alternatively, thirteen years of hands-on technical experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Eligibility to pass a Tier 4/HIGH Background Investigation is required.

Work Arrangement
This is a fully remote position open to candidates within the United States. The standard work schedule follows Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Time.
