Join Delivery Hero as a Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin) for the mission-critical Orders Success Squad within our Vendor Growth Product Line. You'll be at the heart of our global operations, responsible for processing approximately 7 million food and grocery orders every single day. This is a hands-on role where you'll drive best practices in development, architecture, deployments, stability, observability, and performance for our central services.
What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience, with a strong preference for distributed systems.
- Hands-on proficiency with Java, Kotlin, and frameworks like Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JUnit.
- Deep expertise in service-oriented & microservices architectural patterns, including troubleshooting and optimizing scalable systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP & AWS services such as RDS, DDB, Lambda, CW, EC2, SQS, SNS, Cognito, Kinesis).
- Proficiency with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, Drone, Travis, CircleCI).
- Demonstrated expertise in writing high-quality tests (unit, integration, E2E).
- Eagerness to contribute to the well-compensated Firefighter/On-call roster, ensuring the reliability of our systems.
Nice to Have
- Experience with performance optimization techniques (caching, SQL query optimization, monitoring, profiling).
- Familiarity with error reporting and monitoring tools (Grafana, Sentry, Datadog, New Relic).
- An interest in understanding or contributing to frontend logic (ReactJS, Native Android, Flutter).
