Salesforce, Inc. is hiring Backend Engineers for Slack to build features, design and implement API methods, and improve the performance and reliability of our systems as we scale. We are specifically looking for Staff and SWE II level Backend engineers to join our Triage XP, Slack Actions, and Slackforce Adoption teams.
What You'll Do
- Brainstorm with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to conceptualize and build new features.
- Produce high-quality results by contributing heavily to team projects with significant business impact.
- Actively own team features or systems, define their long-term health, and improve surrounding systems.
- Assist support and operations teams in triaging and resolving production issues.
- Mentor other engineers and deeply review code.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
What We're Looking For
- You’ve been building web applications professionally for 4+ years - 8+ years for Staff level candidates.
- You have experience with functional or imperative programming languages — e.g., PHP, Python, Ruby, Go, C, or Java.
- You can contribute to technical architecture discussions and help drive technical decisions within your team.
- You write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability.
- You are a strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.
- You possess solid computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.

- Compensation: For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range is $157,600 to $306,600. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range is $172,000 to $334,600.
