YMCA of Southwest Florida was looking for a Specialty Program Instructor

The YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a Specialty Program Instructor for our Home School Enrichment program. In this role, you will lead instruction and skill development in a specialized area, creating rewarding experiences for enrolled participants under the guidance of the Program Director.

What You'll Do

  • Organize, plan, and execute all activities for enrolled participants.
  • Prepare for special program presentations.
  • Monitor your area at all times to ensure safety and immediately make changes as necessary.
  • Work closely with other team members to provide a positive environment and actively encourage participation.
  • Exemplify appropriate behavior as a role model, showing patience, understanding, and respect.
  • Instruct and guide participants through session rules and ensure adherence.
  • Immediately report all unusual incidents or accidents to the Program Director and complete all applicable reports.
  • Record daily attendance and maintain accurate, complete records.
  • Ensure the program environment is neat, orderly, and free of all safety impediments.
  • Develop and foster interpersonal relationships between participants, creating an environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies are on hand and well maintained.

What We're Looking For

  • Prior experience with the specialty program offering, preferably in a learning environment.
  • Experience working with children in group settings (teaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs).
  • Confidence designing and leading age-appropriate activities.
  • Enthusiasm for your area of specialization and sharing that knowledge with others.
  • Ability to adhere to a drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
  • Strong communication skills with both students and parents.
  • Successful completion of a State of Florida Criminal History Background Check and adherence to the Association’s background screening policies.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
  • Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
  • Adherence to Staff Safety Requirements and Cleaning Protocols.

Team & Environment

This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with other team members to deliver a high-quality program experience.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position.
