As a SQL Database Administrator, you will oversee the full lifecycle of Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability, strong performance, and data integrity across production, UAT, and development environments. Your work will directly support business operations, reporting, and application upgrades in a secure and scalable way.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances to meet performance and availability standards
- Design and manage backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures to protect critical data
- Monitor system performance and implement tuning solutions, including query optimization and index management
- Perform database upgrades, migrations, and patching with minimal disruption
- Ensure data accuracy through regular audits and proactive monitoring
- Use tools such as SQL Sentry and SSMS to maintain optimal database health
- Support application releases and assist with SQL report development
- Document configuration changes, performance metrics, and system updates
- Balance workloads across infrastructure to maintain efficiency
- Collaborate with teams to translate business requirements into effective database solutions
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a degree in IT or a related field and demonstrate solid experience with SQL Server technologies, including failover clustering, availability groups, and transparent data encryption. Proficiency with SQL Server Integration Services and Reporting Services is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret technical and business needs are required.
Preference will be given to those with Microsoft certifications, exposure to PostgreSQL, or experience in multi-country financial or professional services environments. Familiarity with operating in diverse, fast-paced global teams is a strong advantage.
