Role Overview
As a SQL Server Database Administrator, you will play a central role in maintaining and advancing a long-standing, mission-critical application built around extensive T-SQL logic. Your expertise will ensure data integrity, system performance, and scalability across a complex database environment. You'll work directly with consultants and stakeholders to interpret business needs and implement robust, efficient database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Refactor, enhance, and optimize T-SQL components including queries, views, stored procedures, and functions across multiple modules.
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks through execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Design, build, and deploy SSRS reports that translate complex data into clear, accurate, and visually effective outputs for non-technical users.
- Collaborate with client-facing teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable database designs and stored logic.
- Manage assigned tickets from triage through resolution, balancing priorities and communicating progress and risks effectively.
- Contribute to architectural decisions for new and evolving modules, ensuring alignment with existing patterns and long-term maintainability.
- Document changes and follow disciplined change control processes across development, testing, and production environments.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of hands-on experience managing SQL Server in production settings, with deep involvement in stored procedure development and maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve query performance in large, intricate databases.
- Full lifecycle experience with SSRS, from query design through report deployment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven adaptability when working within large, legacy codebases with steep learning curves.
- Ability to work in person at least three days per week in Albuquerque, NM or Richardson, TX.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to .NET or .NET Framework, along with frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, or frameworks like Angular.
- Background in financial systems, budgeting platforms, or fund-based accounting models.
- Familiarity with OLAP or multidimensional data structures.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence a minimum of three days per week in either Albuquerque, NM or Richardson, TX. While remote work is supported, your primary location will be tied to one of these offices.
