As a Senior Android Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in building and refining Android applications for a new continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device designed for clinical environments. Your work will directly support hospital-based care teams and patients managing diabetes, contributing to software that delivers accurate, real-time health data.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications using Java and Kotlin, ensuring performance and usability meet clinical standards
- Translate functional requirements into robust, testable code and maintain detailed design documentation
- Collaborate with test engineering to validate software quality and reliability
- Write automated unit and integration tests to support continuous delivery
- Lead and contribute to technical reviews, offering guidance on code quality, architecture, and best practices
- Explore and integrate modern tools and frameworks to enhance development speed and maintainability
- Improve long-term app sustainability through thoughtful refactoring and architectural enhancements
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing native Android apps with Java and Kotlin
- Strong commitment to clean code, thorough testing, and comprehensive documentation
- Proven experience working in Agile environments using Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines via tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitHub Actions
- Hands-on experience with Git and branching strategies such as GitFlow
- Solid understanding of unit testing frameworks
- Working knowledge of architectural patterns including MVC, MVVM, and MVP
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Jetpack Compose and reactive programming models
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in San Diego, CA. Remote applicants are welcome if they can maintain alignment with Pacific Time zone hours. Employees within commuting distance of the site may have access to on-site workspace, depending on team needs and company policy.
