Role Overview
Join a global infrastructure team as a Sr. Linux System Engineer, responsible for maintaining and enhancing Linux-based server environments across the Americas. This position plays a central role in ensuring system reliability, security, and performance in large-scale, highly available operations. You will work closely with senior IT professionals and cybersecurity teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize Linux server infrastructure in both on-premises and public cloud environments, ensuring high availability and security compliance
- Design and implement automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Shell/Bash, and PowerShell
- Support deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux systems, resolving complex technical issues efficiently
- Collaborate with security teams to identify, track, and remediate vulnerabilities within defined timelines
- Lead or contribute to technical initiatives including OS upgrades, hardware refreshes, and cloud migration projects
- Research emerging technologies and industry trends to inform infrastructure strategy and support decisions
- Maintain accurate documentation for system procedures and contribute to ITIL process integrity
- Integrate external IT environments into standardized platforms and ensure consistency across systems
- Support backup and recovery operations using technologies such as Veeam and other enterprise solutions
- Work across international teams, communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience in enterprise-level system engineering with a focus on Linux environments
- Strong expertise in Linux system configuration, patching, and security hardening
- Hands-on experience with scripting and automation tools including Ansible, Terraform, Bash, and PowerShell
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OCI
- Working knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware and HyperV
- Understanding of core networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Experience with Active Directory and user access management
- Background in ticketing and change management systems
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues in multi-datacenter environments
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills
- Experience with patch management tools such as Tanium or SCCM
- Familiarity with enterprise storage systems including 3PAR, Pure Storage, or DellEMC Unity
- Advanced knowledge of VEEAM backup and recovery solutions
