Lead and mentor a team of Level 2 network engineers while ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical LAN and WAN systems. This role focuses on maintaining high-availability network operations through proactive monitoring, root cause analysis, and continuous process refinement. As a key technical leader, you will coordinate shift handovers, manage escalations, and serve as the primary point of contact for service delivery issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the L2 engineering team and guide technical resolution efforts
- Conduct in-depth root cause investigations and implement corrective actions
- Monitor and report on performance metrics to ensure service level compliance
- Develop and standardize operational workflows to enhance team productivity
- Lead remote and on-site troubleshooting for complex network issues, including system design and upgrades
- Coordinate with stakeholders during maintenance windows and system administration activities
- Drive project initiatives and recommend infrastructure improvements based on field experience
- Participate in operational reviews and contribute to long-term network planning
Required Expertise
- Proven experience with Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000, and 2000 series switches
- Strong understanding of switching technologies and Layer 2 architectures
- Working knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP
- Familiarity with VRF, DMVPN, and load balancing solutions such as F5 and Cisco ACE
- Experience managing wireless infrastructure, including access points and controllers from Cisco (5500, 7500, 4400 series)
Work Environment
This is an onsite position located in Savannah, GA, structured as a contract-to-hire opportunity. Candidates must be prepared to work on location and support scheduled network operations and maintenance activities as needed.
