About the Role

Position Overview

This is a remote opportunity for an experienced attorney licensed in Texas to lead the defense of personal lines automobile, subrogation, and small claims matters across central to eastern Texas. The role involves full case management from initial assignment through trial, with autonomy in strategy development, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse docket of tort-based insurance defense cases with independent decision-making authority
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and motion drafting
  • Develop and execute defense plans in coordination with claims professionals and insured clients
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and briefs in support of client interests
  • Represent clients at depositions, hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with internal partners, courts, witnesses, and opposing counsel
  • Ensure efficient case resolution while upholding legal standards and client service expectations
  • Prepare witnesses and present evidence effectively in adversarial settings
  • Stay current through participation in continuing legal education programs

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in Texas. A minimum of two years of experience in tort defense litigation is required. Essential skills include strong legal writing, independent case management, and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred qualifications include first-chair experience in small claims trials and second-chair jury trial participation. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, and thrives in a collaborative, client-centered environment.

Work Environment

This position operates remotely with regular travel to court locations across central to eastern Texas, excluding areas south of Corpus Christi. The role supports professional development within an in-house legal team focused on innovation, equity, and mental health awareness.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $118,800 to $178,200. Additional compensation may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition awards.
