Hybrid
Team
The organization is focused on developing AI systems that are safe, transparent, and aligned with human values. It brings together researchers, engineers, policy specialists, and leaders to advance beneficial AI through interdisciplinary collaboration and rigorous science.
How we're different
- We approach AI research as large-scale empirical science, similar to physics or biology, focusing on a few high-impact initiatives as one unified team. We prioritize progress toward trustworthy, steerable AI over isolated technical puzzles and emphasize collaboration, frequent discussion, and strong communication.
- Our research builds on prior work including GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences. Reading our published research is the best way to understand our current directions.
