As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll play a central role in evolving our platform, taking ownership of critical features, and driving technical projects from conception to production.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement robust, maintainable systems that solve real-world challenges in agriculture and livestock management
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and customer-facing teams to translate complex workflows into intuitive software solutions
- Lead engineering efforts across multiple contributors, setting technical direction and ensuring delivery
- Diagnose and resolve issues in live environments, balancing urgency with long-term system health
- Mentor peers and raise the overall engineering bar through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
- Develop deep familiarity with cattle feeding operations, from logistics and inventory to financial tracking and reporting
What We're Looking For
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience
- Proven track record of delivering software that drives measurable business or product outcomes
- Strong foundation in software design and architecture, with the ability to make sound technical trade-offs
- Experience troubleshooting and optimizing systems in production environments
- Fluency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- Self-directed mindset with a drive to identify problems and drive solutions independently
- Must be based in the United States
Nice to Have
- Frontend experience with React, CSS, or TypeScript
- iOS or Swift development background
- Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers
- Exposure to infrastructure or platform-level work
- Personal interest in agriculture, animal husbandry, or rural industries
Technology Stack
Our current tools include Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, React, Prisma, MUI, GitHub Actions, jest, Playwright, and Vercel's serverless infrastructure. Familiarity with this stack is helpful, but we value strong engineering fundamentals over specific framework expertise.
