As a Staff Software Engineer focused on Frontend Telemetry, you'll architect and deploy a new SDK that becomes the foundation for capturing real user behavior, performance metrics, and reliability signals across Canva’s platform. Your work will define how product quality is measured and improved at scale.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement a unified frontend telemetry SDK that replaces fragmented systems, enabling consistent data collection across the product.
- Set the long-term technical vision for frontend observability, making strategic decisions that influence engineering practices company-wide.
- Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and leadership to identify measurement gaps and deliver tools that turn raw data into meaningful insights.
- Build accessible interfaces that surface telemetry data to both technical teams and executives, supporting informed decision-making at all levels.
- Lead the adoption of the new system, guiding teams through migration and establishing a standardized approach to frontend monitoring.
- Work closely with the Reliability Platform team to strengthen error reporting, alerting, and frontend health visibility.
- Develop a community of practice around measurement, promoting best practices in performance, reliability, and data integrity across development workflows.
- Provide technical mentorship, lead architectural discussions, and help raise the bar for engineering excellence in frontend observability.

- A collaborative mindset, known for empowering peers and fostering trust across teams.
- Motivation driven by measurable impact—helping teams ship confidently and learn continuously from user interactions.
