Unstructured Technologies is hiring a Staff Software Engineer

About the Role

What You'll Do

Take ownership of critical systems that power large-scale AI workflows, defining the technical roadmap for high-impact features. Lead architectural decisions that balance long-term scalability with operational simplicity, and deliver robust code that supports enterprise demands. Guide engineering teams through complex technical challenges in data orchestration, access control, and cloud-native infrastructure.

Collaborate across product, engineering, and business functions to align technical strategy with customer needs. Mentor engineers across the organization, fostering a culture of clean design and thoughtful problem-solving. Serve as a go-to resource for resolving deep technical escalations and help steer key strategic decisions that shape the platform’s evolution.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10+ years building and shipping production systems in high-scale, cloud-first environments
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Strong grasp of cloud security principles, including IAM policies, least privilege, secrets management, and data protection
  • Hands-on work with authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT
  • Experience implementing fine-grained access control models like RBAC and ABAC
  • Integration experience with enterprise identity systems including LDAP, Active Directory, and SCIM in cloud-native or Kubernetes-based environments
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical strategy, team mentorship, and architectural governance
  • Clear communicator who elevates the engineers around them

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in AI/ML platforms, real-time data pipelines, or unstructured data processing
  • Deep familiarity with Kubernetes, infrastructure as code (IaC), and SaaS scalability challenges
  • Expertise in security lifecycle management: token/session handling, encryption, audit logging, and compliance frameworks like GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and SOC 2
  • Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments—comfortable defining direction from undefined starting points

Benefits

  • Day-one medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Flexible parental leave policy
  • 401(k) options
  • Company-funded offsites
  • High-quality tools and equipment provided, no matter your location
  • Competitive referral bonuses
  • Best-in-class swag
