As a Business Data Analyst, you’ll play a central part in ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and usability across critical systems. Working within the Group Data Office, your insights will directly influence how data is structured, shared, and leveraged across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze data sources and map their integration into the Enterprise Data Model, ensuring clear lineage and consistency
- Identify inefficiencies in current data processes and lead the design of optimized, scalable solutions
- Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to define data requirements and validate implementations
- Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences
- Support testing phases by validating outputs and ensuring alignment with business needs
- Track project progress and help maintain delivery timelines across interdependent initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience analyzing complex data environments, particularly in financial services
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to draw practical conclusions from data
- Familiarity with agile delivery methods and early testing integration (‘shift left’)
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under deadlines
Technology Environment
You’ll work with modern data platforms including Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Excel, using PowerBI and Tableau to communicate insights and support decision-making.
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid model, with flexibility to work up to 50% remotely. Team hubs are located in Edinburgh, Alderley Park, and Glasgow, offering a blend of collaborative and focused work settings.
