As a Compute Operations Specialist, you will maintain and enhance compute infrastructure across the Americas Hub, ensuring consistent performance, security, and service availability for a large, distributed organization. You'll play a key role in managing server platforms, virtualization systems, and storage technologies that support critical business operations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily compute operations, monitoring system health and ensuring adherence to service level expectations.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues affecting compute platforms, driving root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
- Implement infrastructure changes, including installations, moves, adds, and decommissions, while supporting system upgrades and lifecycle management.
- Conduct routine audits and compliance checks, contributing to business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Lead monitoring initiatives to detect and prevent service disruptions, applying proactive problem management techniques.
- Collaborate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues, ensuring timely support and service quality.
- Review peer changes and provide technical guidance to promote consistency and operational excellence.
- Participate in on-call rotations and support critical operations during non-business hours when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
A successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 4–6 years of hands-on experience in compute operations. Expertise in enterprise infrastructure is essential, including proficiency with Dell and HPE servers, Cisco UCS, VMware vCenter, Nutanix, and enterprise storage solutions such as HPE MSA and Nimble.
Additional technical requirements include experience with backup platforms like Veeam, Commvault, Networker, or NetBackup, as well as strong skills in Windows and Linux administration, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), scripting (PowerShell/Bash), and cloud environments (Azure/AWS). Familiarity with ITIL practices and global IT service delivery models is expected.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required. Knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.

Compensation and Location
Salary ranges vary by province: $89,800–$118,900 in AB, BC, NT, NU, SK, and YT; $81,900–$112,800 in MB and ON; and $81,100–$107,700 in NB, NL, NS, PEI, and QC. Final compensation considers experience, skills, location, and business needs. The role is based in the Americas Hub with a flexible, hybrid work structure.
