Position Overview
Support a high-impact government mission as a Database Administrator in Chantilly, VA. This role centers on managing and securing Oracle database systems within a hybrid infrastructure that includes both on-premise deployments and AWS RDS environments. You will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, performance, and compliance in a fast-paced, Agile-driven setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade Oracle databases across Windows and Linux platforms
- Perform installation, patching, performance tuning, and recovery operations to ensure system integrity
- Support database infrastructure in both traditional data centers and cloud-hosted AWS RDS instances
- Monitor database performance and proactively address bottlenecks to maintain high availability
- Enforce security policies, manage access controls, and ensure compliance with government standards
- Collaborate with developers and engineers on database design and application integration
- Participate in Agile workflows, including sprint planning and technical reviews using Jira and Confluence
- Diagnose and resolve database outages, latency issues, and configuration challenges
- Support database migration, version upgrades, and modernization initiatives
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 16+ years of experience
- Proven expertise in Oracle database administration, including performance optimization and troubleshooting
- Experience managing databases in Windows and Linux environments
- Familiarity with MySQL and PostgreSQL platforms
- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS and hybrid cloud architectures
- Background working in Agile development teams
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for collaboration and version control
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on resolving complex database issues
