As an Embedded Software Engineer on the Vehicle OS team, you will play a key role in bringing advanced software features into production vehicles. You'll collaborate directly with customers to port, integrate, and troubleshoot embedded systems using C and C++, ensuring seamless operation across real vehicles, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and software-in-the-loop (SIL) environments.
What You'll Do
- Integrate customer-developed software into the Vehicle OS platform using C and C++
- Develop and maintain embedded vehicle software, including components modeled in Simulink
- Lead integration timelines and coordinate testing efforts across Japan and the US
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in automotive electronic systems
- Guide technical direction by balancing new feature development, scalability, and system stability
- Ensure timely delivery of high-integrity software aligned with project goals
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in computer science, robotics, or a related field from a recognized institution
- At least five years of experience delivering production-grade embedded software
- Strong background in C++ development and integration
- Experience solving complex architectural challenges in real-time systems
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet
- Understanding of embedded platforms and debugging methodologies in vehicle environments
Preferred Background
- Industry experience in automotive software development
- Hands-on work with Simulink, AUTOSAR, or similar tools
- Experience managing direct customer relationships
- Exposure to large-scale software practices including CI/CD and release management
- Additional skills in areas like PCB design, CAD, or 3D printing
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Tokyo’s Otemachi district, with a five-day weekly schedule centered around in-office collaboration. Occasional remote flexibility is supported—for example, starting remotely for morning syncs or adjusting hours for personal needs.
