Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled General Accountant to oversee accounting operations for UK-based clients across diverse sectors. This is a fully remote role requiring availability during UK business hours, with a focus on precision, compliance, and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee complete accounting cycles, including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger upkeep
- Ensure accuracy in financial records and maintain supporting documentation
- Support month-end and year-end close processes with timely reporting
- Generate management accounts and financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and HMRC requirements
- Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable workflows
- Issue customer invoices and track accounts receivable collections
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts regularly
- Identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with tax compliance tasks
- Support year-end financial reporting and audit readiness
- Collaborate with UK finance teams and external advisors
- Respond to accounting inquiries and support financial analysis as needed
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 3–7 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably with UK entities
- Familiarity with UK accounting practices, including VAT and financial reporting standards
- Experience using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting
- High level of accuracy and analytical thinking
Preferred Background
- Exposure to ACCA, CIMA, or CPA (Philippines)
- Background in preparing management accounts and VAT filings
- Experience serving UK small and medium enterprises
- Familiarity with tools like Dext, Hubdoc, Stripe, PayPal, or Wise
- Previous work in offshore or outsourced accounting environments
Technology Used
Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Dext (formerly Receipt Bank), Hubdoc, Excel / Google Sheets, and financial reporting applications.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position open to candidates in the Philippines. You must be available during UK business hours (typically 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM UK time). You’ll work directly with UK clients, accountants, and business leaders, supporting their financial operations with accuracy and professionalism.
