Role Overview
We’re seeking a skilled Python Engineer to design and enhance backend systems in a distributed, remote-first environment. You’ll take full ownership of feature development—from design through deployment and ongoing support—while collaborating with a team based in the Central European Time zone.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of backend services using Python and Django
- Design and implement message-driven architectures with Apache Kafka
- Write clean, testable code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage
- Contribute to system design discussions to build scalable, maintainable solutions
- Participate in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency
- Support containerized deployments using Docker and assist in managing cloud infrastructure
- Engage in CI/CD pipeline improvements and monitoring via tools like Grafana and Prometheus
- Take part in on-call rotations to support production environments
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in backend Python development
- Strong proficiency with Django and asynchronous programming using asyncio
- Production experience with message brokers such as Apache Kafka
- Practical knowledge of Docker and containerized environments
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Proven experience writing automated tests and working within CI/CD workflows
- Comfort with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
- Fluent English communication skills
- Experience working in Agile teams, including code reviews and iterative delivery
- Willingness to participate in production support rotations
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Kubernetes for orchestration
- Basic understanding of frontend frameworks such as React
- Familiarity with event sourcing and CQRS patterns
- Exposure to big data processing tools like Apache Flink

Work Environment
