Shape the future of audiobook infrastructure by designing and maintaining systems that process and deliver vast libraries of audio and digital content at scale. This role is central to enabling a seamless global experience for millions of users through robust, data-driven backend services.
What You’ll Do
- Build and optimize backend services and data pipelines that handle ingestion, transformation, and distribution of audiobook and eBook assets.
- Take end-to-end ownership of service reliability, performance, and operational health, contributing directly to system monitoring and incident response.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn complex workflows into simple, durable technical solutions.
- Participate in technical planning by authoring and reviewing architectural proposals, helping guide decisions across the audiobook ecosystem.
- Step beyond traditional role boundaries—whether improving internal tooling, refining deployment processes, or diving into data models—to meet evolving mission needs.
- Mentor fellow engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing, inclusivity, and psychological safety.
- Work pragmatically—favoring fast, reversible decisions that keep momentum without sacrificing long-term maintainability.
What We’re Looking For
- At least five years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend and distributed systems.
- Strong command of Java, gRPC, and cloud platforms—particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience working with data pipelines and a genuine interest in understanding how data shapes product and platform decisions.
- A commitment to writing clean, testable code and ensuring operational excellence.
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving, uncertain environments, with flexibility to adapt and contribute across technical domains.
- Curiosity about the audiobook space and a drive to understand how technology enables content discovery and access.
- Collaborative mindset, humility, and a growth-oriented approach to problem-solving.
