Role Overview
As a Senior Cloud Database Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of enterprise-grade SQL Server environments operating around the clock. Reporting to the Manager of Cloud Database Engineering, this individual contributor position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of database systems that support critical business functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, upgrade, and manage multiple SQL Server instances across production environments
- Monitor system performance and conduct proactive tuning for both databases and associated applications
- Design and enforce reliable backup and recovery strategies to ensure data resilience
- Implement and maintain robust database security protocols and access controls
- Write, review, and optimize TSQL code to support operational and reporting needs
- Support additional tasks as assigned by leadership to meet team objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field—equivalent experience will be considered
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience managing mission-critical SQL Server databases
- Five or more years of TSQL development and scripting
- At least two years working with database replication technologies
- Proven experience implementing and supporting SQL Server Availability Groups
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Effective problem-solving abilities and a track record of meeting deadlines
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS for data analytics and integration
- Experience with modern data platforms such as Kafka, MSK, Snowflake, Aurora DB, and SNS
- Working knowledge of AWS and AWS CLI, including cloud infrastructure management
- Background in MS Azure database services
- Certifications such as MCSE, MCDBA, or OCP are advantageous
- Proficiency in PowerShell, C#, .NET, TFS, or GitHub for automation and version control
- Experience with Rubrik for data protection and recovery
Work Environment
This position operates under a hybrid model, requiring two days per week on-site to support team collaboration and operational alignment, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining three days. The role is scheduled for night shift hours to support global operations.
