Role Overview
Join a global telecommunications engineering team focused on building and maintaining high-availability containerized platforms. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of OpenShift clusters deployed in on-premises environments, ensuring scalability, security, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters across physical and virtualized data centers
- Lead infrastructure projects from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and business goals
- Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and streamline deployment workflows
- Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI and OpenShift-native tooling
- Automate system operations and configuration management using Ansible and scripting languages such as Bash or Python
- Perform regular upgrades and patches for OpenShift, ArgoCD, GitLab CI, and related components following change control protocols
- Develop and enforce backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies for critical systems
- Participate in on-call rotations to support platform stability and rapid incident resolution
- Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to ensure high availability
- Apply security best practices including role-based access control (RBAC), vulnerability management, and compliance enforcement
- Enhance observability through tools like Prometheus and Grafana to improve alerting and system insights
- Support Linux server administration and data center operations when platform workload allows
- Document architectures, procedures, and runbooks to ensure knowledge continuity
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on OpenShift, GitOps, and DevOps practices
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes in enterprise or on-prem environments
- Proven track record in managing Linux infrastructure, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or Jenkins
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python for automation tasks
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows and tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
- Proficiency in infrastructure automation with Ansible
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and SOPs
- Fluent written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
- Background in virtualization platforms such as VMware
- Knowledge of ITIL service operations principles
- Exposure to monitoring stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) or disaster recovery solutions
