Shape the future of clinical AI as a Senior Research Engineer, driving machine learning models from research to real-world impact. You'll take ownership of the full model lifecycle—training, fine-tuning, deployment, monitoring, and iteration—within a live healthcare environment where reliability and safety are paramount.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end development of production-grade AI models, applying techniques like supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning with human feedback
- Design and maintain data pipelines and evaluation systems that support continuous model improvement
- Ensure models remain effective over time by monitoring for performance drift and implementing timely updates
- Establish strong engineering standards across research teams, emphasizing code quality, testing, reproducibility, and documentation
- Act as the key technical link between research and engineering, translating experimental insights into scalable product features
- Guide researchers in adopting production-oriented practices and foster collaboration across disciplines
What We’re Looking For
- Advanced degree (PhD or MSc) in a STEM field, preferably Computer Science
- At least four years of experience combining machine learning research with software engineering, with a track record of deploying models to production
- Hands-on expertise in Python, SQL, and modern development workflows including version control, testing, and CI/CD
- Experience with large language model fine-tuning, post-training methods, and evaluation in real-world settings
- Ability to mentor and influence research teams to adopt robust engineering principles
- Skill in communicating complex technical concepts across research and engineering functions
- Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with evolving requirements, while maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards
Nice to Have
- Background in startup or high-growth environments
- Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP (Vertex AI) or AWS (SageMaker)
- Published work in machine learning, natural language processing, or related areas
- Familiarity with LLM orchestration tools and agentic workflow design
Work Environment
Remote within Europe or the UK, with team hubs in London, Lisbon, and Porto. This role thrives on collaboration across time zones, blending innovation in AI with real-world clinical impact. The environment is fast-paced, iterative, and deeply committed to ethical, scalable healthcare solutions.
