About the Role

As a Software Engineer specializing in mapping and localization, you will play a central role in building high-performance systems for autonomous and advanced driver-assistance applications. Your work will span both embedded automotive platforms and cloud infrastructure, ensuring precise and reliable environmental understanding for intelligent vehicles.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement efficient, production-grade mapping and localization solutions tailored to specific operational scenarios, running on embedded ECUs and cloud platforms.
  • Develop optimized software for automotive system-on-chips to support real-time performance requirements.
  • Construct scalable backend systems for map creation, storage, and processing—supporting both ADAS/AD functions and machine learning model training.
  • Enhance automated workflows that transform raw sensor data into structured maps using internal tools for visualization and editing.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong commitment to building highly reliable systems for real-world deployment in complex environments.
  • Master’s degree in mapping, localization, or a closely related technical field.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience developing software components that solve practical challenges in mapping or localization.
  • Familiarity with multiple relevant software frameworks, including middleware, data pipelines, benchmarking tools, or algorithmic libraries.
  • Solid grasp of core concepts such as world representations, coordinate transformations, error modeling, and the interplay between mapping and localization.
  • Ability to assess and compare hardware solutions for localization performance.
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.

Nice to Have

  • PhD in mapping, localization, or a related discipline.
  • Deep experience with algorithms such as SLAM, probabilistic filtering, non-linear optimization, computational geometry, numerical methods, or distributed systems.
  • Background in large-scale data processing using modern frameworks.
  • Experience with automotive SOCs and associated middleware layers.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role based in Stuttgart, with primary in-office presence expected five days per week. Occasional remote work is supported—for example, starting the day from home for morning meetings or adjusting schedules for personal needs. The team operates in a fast-paced, excellence-driven environment, focused on delivering high-impact solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to shape technical direction and contribute meaningfully to an emerging domain in autonomy.
