We are seeking a detail-oriented UI/UX Designer to lead the design direction of a large-scale remote initiative. In this role, you will apply Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to develop digital applications that are both intuitive and fully accessible, ensuring alignment with VA Digital Service and USWDS standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with product teams to define goals and translate user needs into functional design requirements
- Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, and usability testing to inform design decisions
- Develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to communicate design concepts
- Design interfaces that comply with Section 508 and follow USWDS and VA Digital Service guidelines
- Translate complex workflows into clear, user-friendly experiences
- Document research findings, design iterations, and usability outcomes
- Provide ongoing UX expertise to ensure accessibility and consistency across platforms
- Support additional design-related tasks as project needs evolve
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in UI/UX design with a strong portfolio highlighting process and outcomes
- Familiarity with Human-Centered Design practices and user research methodologies
- Ability to interpret research data and apply insights to improve user experiences
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Must be based in the continental United States
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with practices at VA, DHA, or HHS agencies is beneficial
