As an Engineer on the Spatial Intelligence team, you'll play a key role in developing computer vision-driven mapping solutions that empower self-driving vehicles to accurately interpret and adapt to their surroundings. Your work will focus on creating robust systems that process visual and sensor data to build and maintain dynamic, high-definition maps used for real-time localization and navigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of computer vision mapping projects that enhance how autonomous vehicles perceive and map roadways using onboard and remote sensing inputs
- Develop algorithms to detect environmental changes and keep mapping data current and reliable
- Combine visual mapping outputs with LIDAR-based maps to generate unified, accurate representations of the world
- Deploy and maintain scalable solutions across autonomous vehicle fleets
- Work closely with localization, perception, and sensor fusion teams to improve overall on-road performance
Qualifications
You bring deep expertise in geometric computer vision and real-world deployment of 3D vision systems. Required skills include:
- Hands-on experience with camera geometry, calibration, feature matching, and triangulation methods
- Proven work in VSLAM, structure from motion, visual-inertial odometry, and large-scale optimization techniques
- History of delivering computer vision solutions in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or augmented reality
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of seven years in professional software development
- Strong command of C++ and software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, and code review
- Publishing record in top-tier vision and machine learning conferences
- Experience designing and using metrics to guide technical development
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience fusing data from multiple sensors, especially vision and LIDAR
- Background in remote sensing, geospatial systems, or RPC camera models
- Proficiency in Python and training machine learning models using PyTorch or similar frameworks
Work Environment
This role supports a hybrid work model with primary locations in Boston, Pittsburgh, and Las Vegas, and flexibility for remote work. The team values collaboration, technical rigor, and a shared mission to advance equitable, safe transportation through innovation.
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match and access to a health savings account
- Life and pet insurance options
